Guideline for the Review Implementation of Distinguished Award of Teaching, Research, Counseling and Service for Teachers in the College of Electrical and Communication
Amended at the 1st college affairs meeting of the 2023 academic Year on Oct.17, 2023
Article I This Guideline is formulated in accordance with the “Implementation Regulations for Teachers’ Annual Performance Award” (hereinafter referred to as “Implementation Regulations”) of the University.
Article II The Dean of the College shall be the convenor to form the Distinguished Award Review Panel, with the heads of the college/department/school as ex officio members of the panel, and two faculty members (including degree program or classroom supervisors) elected by each departmental group as members of the panel. The applicants of each award should refrain from serving as a member of the panel.
Article III Review Procedures
- Eligibility Requirements for Nominees and Application Documents Required
1) Teaching, counseling and service: Candidates will be recommended by the supervisor of their respective units to apply for the award relating to this program if they have received an “Exceptional” rating in this program for the current academic year.
2) Research: Teachers may apply on their own and be recommended by the supervisor of their respective units.
3) Documents required: The application together with relevant information of this program for the previous three academic years should be prepared to send to the “Distinguished Award Review Panel” of the College for review.
- Restrictions for Recommendation
1) Recipients of the Distinguished Award of school level for each program shall not be eligible to apply for or be nominated as a candidate for the Distinguished Award of the program for the following three years.
2) Those who have received three Distinguished Awards of school level in the program shall not be eligible to apply for or be nominated as a candidate for the Distinguished Award of the program.
3) Recipients of the Yu-Ziang Distinguished Professorship shall not be eligible to apply for or be nominated as a candidate for the Distinguished Award of the research program for the following three years.
4) Those who have been awarded various types of chair professorships shall not be eligible to apply for or be nominated as a candidate for the Distinguished Award of the research program.
- Review
A Distinguished Award Review Meeting will be held to invite candidates or unit supervisors to explain their outstanding achievements in the meeting. After the reviewers vote by secret ballot, the first candidate will be recommended for the Distinguished Award at the school level, and the other candidates will be recommended for the Distinguished Award at the college level.
Article IV Awarding Methods
- The Distinguished Award of school level will be given in accordance with the “Implementation Regulations for Teachers’ Annual Performance Award” of the University.
- Certificates (plaques) will be issued to recipients of the Distinguished Award of college level.
Article V This Guideline shall come into force after it has been adopted by the college affairs meeting, and the same applies to any amendments.
