College of Electrical and Communication Engineering

In 2005, in order to integrate electrical and communication engineering, and promote mutual supports and applications of resources with Far Eastern Group (FEG), Far EasTone Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (FET) donated NT$500 million for constructing the Far Eastern Yu-Ziang Telecommunication Building (Yuan Ze Building 7). We expect that the construction of the Building would enhance the research resources and make a breakthrough in electrical and communication engineering, which would promote research ethos and excellence. The College of Electrical and Communication Engineering was established in 2006 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Currently, the College includes the Department of Electrical Engineering (Group A, B, and C with five classes) and an International Program for Bachelor. Each Group offers master and doctor programs in Electrical Engineering with total fifty full-time faculty of Ph.D. including many senior and honorary professors.

In view of current industrial needs and future technological development towards cross-field integration, the College has responded to the trend of the times and industrial needs by merging the original departments of Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, and Photonics Engineering into the Department of Electrical Engineering with a total of 5 classes, which were approved by the Ministry of Education and became effective in 2018, with enrollment groups - Group A (2 classes), Group B (2 classes), and Group C (1 class). In terms of students, through cross-field learning, we hope to cultivate professionals in the cross-field of electrical engineering and information technology, and to enhance students' competitiveness for employment. In terms of teachers, through the integration of teachers' research fields, we hope to enhance the research and development capabilities in the cross-field of electrical engineering and information technology.
