Management Details for Shared Experimental Labs in the College of Electrical and Communication Engineering at Yuan Ze University

Amended at the 8th College Affairs Meeting, Academic Year 2023, on June 19, 2024

Clause 1.  To ensure the safety of shared laboratories, integrate and utilize resources effectively, and provide a high-quality teaching environment, the following regulations are hereby established.

Clause 2.  The space and equipment of the shared laboratories are provided for teaching, training, and project practice for faculty members and students of the College. Products that may threaten national information security (such as software, hardware, or services from Chinese brands) are strictly prohibited. If any equipment is found to have been hacked or compromised, its power must be immediately shut off and the laboratory administrator notified for further handling.

Clause 3.  When using the network in the laboratories, users shall comply with proper network etiquette and the provisions of the University’s “Network Usage Management Regulations.”

Clause 4.  Consumable supplies and maintenance costs of the shared laboratories shall be jointly shared by the units within the College.

Clause 5.   Usage Regulations

  1. Priority shall be given to courses conducted by faculty and students of the College.
  2. According to the requirements of the responsible administrative unit, users must complete laboratory safety training before borrowing or using the laboratories.
  3. To maintain cleanliness and ensure the safety of equipment and the environment, bringing beverages, food, umbrellas, or similar items into the laboratories is strictly prohibited. Users must maintain the cleanliness of the classroom and proper arrangement of equipment. After use, doors and windows, lights, and air-conditioning power must be properly turned off.
  4. If any equipment malfunction or damage occurs during class, the user must complete the “Equipment Failure Report Form” of the responsible unit and notify the laboratory administrator.
  5. All equipment and software/hardware in the laboratories are public property. Without permission from the laboratory administrator, users may not move, dismantle, or modify equipment, alter system settings, or install software. Intentional damage or theft is strictly prohibited. Violators shall be handled in accordance with the University’s “Student Discipline Regulations and Handling Procedures.”

Clause 6. Implementation
               These Regulations shall be implemented upon approval by the College Affairs Meeting. 
               The same procedure shall apply to any amendments.
